Intraoral Cameras

Just because children are young doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have a clear understanding of what’s going on with their smile! We firmly believe in finding ways to allow children to see their teeth from the same vantage point as us, which is why we’re excited to use intraoral cameras. These camera-tipped handheld devices can capture images of the inside of your child’s mouth and project them to a nearby screen for viewing. From there, it’s quite easy to pinpoint any potential issues and explain things to both you and your little one!

All-Digital Dental X-Rays

X-rays are an important part of dentistry; without the ability to peer beneath the gum line and around different oral and facial structures, it would be quite difficult to identify and address certain problems! This is especially useful for finding signs of decay, gum disease, bite misalignment, or other issues that might influence your child’s growing smile. We’re proud to use Dexis all-digital X-rays that are safe, effective, and emit far less radiation than their predecessors.

3D Cone Beam Imaging

3 D cone beam scanner in dental treatment room

In cases when extensive treatment might be necessary, we’ll use our Dexis 3D Cone Beam Imaging system to take a detailed look at your child’s oral and facial structures. This special device has an arm that can extend and rotate 360 degrees, meaning that it can easily capture the entire anatomy of your child’s face and mouth and take detailed photos of their teeth, gums, nerves, and bones. These images are combined to create a 3D model of your child’s mouth, which is then used to help plan their treatment.

Digital Dental Impression System

If you have unpleasant memories from times when you had to have dental impressions taken, rest assured that your little one won’t have to endure that uncomfortable process here at our office! We’re excited to use the iTero digital impression system, which totally eliminates the need for that cold, messy dental putty of the past. The wand-like device scans the inside of their mouth and projects a 3D model of their teeth and gums onto a nearby screen. These images can be used in the fabrication of all sorts of different custom restorations.

Cavity Detection System

Cavities are a nuisance for all smiles, regardless of age. If proper oral hygiene is not practiced at home and your child isn’t attending regular checkups and cleanings, they can become quite a problem for your child’s well-being. To avoid the need for restorative dental care, we can use a cavity detection system to minimize the likelihood of these serious issues. This specialized device can scan the mouth thoroughly, detecting even the slightest hint or sign of tooth decay.
